meet mr. new years
i guess it’s about time to give mr. new years the proper introduction that he deserves.
flash back to exactly one year ago – rutgers homecoming. homecoming is the happiest day of the year. i love it even more than my birthday. everyone comes back and it’s one huge tailgate. everyone buys tickets to the football game and no one ever makes it in. beer always flows, burgers and hot dogs are the drunk food of choice and there’s nothing better than tossing a football in the parking lot with a cute boy.
enter mr. new years.
junior high and i bounced around tailgates and eventually ended up at his because as i’ve mentioned before, he’s best friends with two of the guys we went to college with. nye went to some lame school in boston, but was at rutgers for law school and is a local, like me.
we chatted a little like two normal people, threw a football around, nothing too crazy. i was actually hardcore flirting with another guy at that tailgate, and to make a long story short, this guy got so drunk that he was eventually kicked out of the bar we ended up at – so nothing happened.
anyways back to the tailgate… when it was time to leave somehow i managed to get in a car with nye and some other people i didn’t really know and proceeded to drive around middlesex country dropping people off at their homes. we even made a pit stop at nye’s house so he could shower.
while we were in the car, somehow i ended up asking nye in conversation if he had a girlfriend and he said no. remember, i had all intentions of hooking up with the drunk guy. i found out eventually that he lied to me. (i never realized this until now, but guys lying about having gfs to me happens more often than i thought.)
this was only the beginning of our very rocky relationship.
